A new session starts every hour. What time will the clock show when these sessions
start? Draw hands on the clocks and write the time in two different ways. One has
               been done for you.

                1. 2. 3. 4. 5.

We read the time on a watch or a clock. Look at the face or dial of the clock shown
below. The hour hand is short and moves slowly. It shows hours. The minute hand is
long and moves fast. It shows minutes. The third hand, which moves the fastest, is
the second hand and it shows the seconds. The dial of the clock is divided into 12 big

divisions, marked by the numbers 1 to 12. The gap between every pair of consecutive
numbers is divided into 5 equal small divisions. There are 60 small divisions on the
whole dial. Each small division represents one minute.

                                                                                       Keep in Mind

                                                                                      60 minutes =1 hour
30 minutes = half an hour

Look at the clock shown alongside.

The hour hand is beyond 2. The minute
            hand is on 6.

We say that the time is 2:30 or half past 2.
